A New Chapter for Barefoot Hollow: Why Our Move Brings a Bigger, Better Future
Written by: The Barefoot Nudist
Big ideas rarely follow a straight line.
When we first began planning Barefoot Hollow Naturist RV Resort, we had a clear vision: a thoughtfully designed, welcoming naturist RV resort built on 25+ acres, rooted in respect for nature, community, and personal freedom. Like many development projects, however, our original location introduced challenges that required us to pause, reassess, and make a difficult; but ultimately rewarding decision.
We’ve chosen to relocate.
And in doing so, we’ve opened the door to something even better.
Why the Original Location No Longer Made Sense
Our initial plans were shaped with care and good faith. We engaged thoughtfully, followed procedures, and worked to align our vision with local requirements. Over time, however, it became clear that local government limitations at the original site would restrict our ability to build Barefoot Hollow in the way we believe our community deserves.
These limitations weren’t rooted in conflict, but in compatibility. Zoning constraints, long-term uncertainty, and regulatory friction would have forced compromises; not just in timing, but in the overall experience we want to provide.
Rather than push forward with a version of Barefoot Hollow that felt constrained, we made the intentional choice to step back and look for a location that truly aligns with our values.
A Positive Turn: More Land, More Possibility
What initially felt like a setback quickly revealed itself as an opportunity.
Our new planned location allows us to expand from the original 25+ acres to approximately 45+ acres; a meaningful increase that dramatically changes what Barefoot Hollow can become.
More land means:
-
greater privacy and spacing for RV sites
-
expanded natural areas
-
more flexibility in layout and amenities
-
long-term growth without crowding
-
a calmer, more immersive naturist environment
In short, it allows us to build the resort we originally envisioned, without compromise.
Why South Carolina Makes Sense
We’re excited to share that our new home for Barefoot Hollow will be in South Carolina, just a 20-ish minute drive from I-95. This location offers a rare combination of accessibility and seclusion; easy to reach, yet far enough removed to feel peaceful and intentional.
Equally important, the governing county where we plan to break ground has shown itself to be:
-
open to thoughtful development
-
respectful of naturist lifestyles
-
willing to engage constructively
-
aligned with long-term planning rather than short-term resistance
That alignment matters. A resort like Barefoot Hollow thrives best when it exists in mutual respect with its surrounding community.
Yes, This Means a Delay And We’re Okay With That
Transparency matters, so we want to be clear:
This relocation will set construction plans and timelines back approximately 6 to 12 months.
But we see this not as lost time; rather, as invested time.
This pause allows us to:
-
finalize a better site plan
-
design with greater intention
-
secure stronger long-term footing
-
ensure regulatory clarity from day one
Rushing a project like this would only create stress later. Doing it right now means a better experience for everyone when Barefoot Hollow opens its gates.
Building the Best Possible Home for Our Community
Barefoot Hollow has never been just about land or infrastructure.
It’s about creating a place where:
-
naturists feel safe and respected
-
couples and singles feel welcome
-
friendships form naturally
-
freedom is balanced with responsibility
-
the pace of life slows down
This move strengthens our ability to deliver that vision.
We’re incredibly grateful that this new location allows us to build not only a resort; but a home for our customers, friends, and extended naturist family.
Looking Ahead With Gratitude and Optimism
Change can be uncomfortable. But growth often requires it.
We feel genuinely blessed to have found a location that better reflects who we are, what we stand for, and what Barefoot Hollow is meant to become. South Carolina offers us the space, openness, and long-term viability needed to create something truly special.
As plans continue to develop, we’ll keep our community informed every step of the way.
The road may be a little longer; but the destination is better than we ever imagined.
Barefoot Hollow isn’t just changing locations.
It’s growing into its future.
